title : G.Tone
1. What is the author's attitude towards the action or events?
- As you can see the narating was done by the character itself, so like you could see the love and lust in his thoughts or just a simple manner of holding her hand and how he thought that they would be perfect for each other. 2. Is the story humorous or tragic or frightening Does the author want you to laugh, or cry, to feel happy or sad, to experience anger or fear? - Honestly, in my opinion i think this story is sort of tragic. I mean the guy falls in love with the girl, the girl does not return his feelings and not only that he also finds out that her father is a colonel who likes to make other people's lives miserable. I think the author just wants us feel bad about what happened to him, and as for experience i think it would be anger and fear. Anger because he lost her the moment he thought he might get her, and fear of what would've happened if he actually did get her. 3. What is the author's attitude towards character or the narrator? Does the author like or dislike, trust or mistrust the characters or the narrator? - I really don't know, the author does not talk much about the narrator aside from how he felt in certain events. |

title : F. Symbolism
1. What are some of the symbols in the story?
- Before Varenka left Ivan she gave him a feather from her fan to him to symbolize that she wants to keep him in her heart, and that she wants him to have something of hers so that he could remember that wonderful night. 2. Are there any objects which seem to have symbolic meaning? What are their meanings? - Well, technically speaking there is non. But that simple situation that occurred had much more meaning than what it seemed like it too. 3. Do any people act as symbols in the story? What do they represent? - Not any as i know of, they represent themselves. 4. DO aspects of the story's setting seem symbolic? In what way? -Nope in no such aspect is known of. 5. Is one symbol used throughout the story or do the symbols change? -Well it was only one, because this happened near the end of the story that means like before she left to go to her place, she gave him something to remember her from. |

title : Imagery (After the ball)
1. I remember reading this in page 646 the way he described Varenka kept everyone in shock. The passage and the words he used ( majestic, bold, extra odinary beaty) made everyone who was hearing feel the passion he had towards Varenka. After reading this story and finiding out what happened in the end still makes me frustrated because the way he described her showed that he may still have a little part of him that still loves her.
2. Honestly at first it made me squirm because it was really cheesy then I realized that this man was in love and half of the time what he was saying made no sense to me. But aside from that at this paragraph it was really romantic and sweet. 3. Like I said earlier this went full on, like i felt like squirming because it was too cheesy yet at the same time I wanted to coo because it was really adorable. But mostly i think this was with hearing because i imagined this story like the movies, when like someone is getting interviewed and they have like flashbacks. The author probably wanted us to know about the passion Ivan felt for Varenka. And i did feel the sense of lust in it. 4. Right after i read that certain paragraph i had a feeling this was going to be no happy ending but then it also made me realize how wrong i was. It does not really have a clear ending to the story because it was only one sided love i pressume. I think the girl he loved had a happy ending but not Ivan because he loved her and he lost her love the other day. I found out that this was going to be one of those love/romantic kind of story that happened long ago. |

title : Point of View ( After the ball)
1. This is used as the first persona view. The narator is the main charcter of the story ( Ivan) and he tells the people about his past and what happened when he first fell in love with Verenka. He refers himself as "I".
2. If it was a third perspective then we would have known what they both they felt for each other but then since it was a first person perspective, we only knew how Ivan felt but not how Varenka felt about Ivan. But if we had thrid perspective then we wouldve known what was going on their lives at the same time. 3. Well it sure did seem true because there were a lot of witnesses who saw what had happened that night, like for the father of Varenka and Ivan's elder brother. Even when the elder brother did not attend the ball but the was Ivan talked about her was enough for the brother to know that he was in love. 4. I think the author was trying to reveal at the same time conceal. Because since Ivan was a big man in the society the people wouldnt stop until they found out what had happened that night. |

title : Character (after the ball Part C)
1. The main character name is Ivan Vassilievich. They don't really give much information on him aside from that fact that he was a really important person and that society needed him.
2. This character is from German I think, this man really does not really talk about himself but more likely at that time when he fell in love with a young girl. He lives with his elder brother, who is basically anti social. 3. Well he tells really good stories, basically at first it was lust, then it changed to love then suddenly later the next day it changes to anger then hatred then lastly loneliness. The only other character that are quite important is the love of his life (Varenka B) and the father of the love of his life ( The colonel) - Varenka B- at the age of fifteen she really beautiful. As when she turned 18 she was enchanting: tall, well-formed, graceful, majestic. - Colonel - very handsome, improving and wel-preserved old man, rosy face with circled white mustaches joining with his equally white sideburns with their urls combed forward at the temples. His eyes and lips wore the same gentle, joyous smile as his daughter's. Had a handsome built: long, well-formed legs, strong shoulders and military chest bearing large, unornate decorations. 4. Firstly like I said earlier he falls in love with Varenka and then like after that the next morning when he goes to meet Varenka he saw the colonel beating up a man and doing some terrible thing and thats where the conflict is. 5. well not really, the man is himself but he just changes the way he feels about certain people. |

title : Summary: 200-300
Never did Cornelia think that she would see the day that she was the same as the old, rich people. As she was finding her was to the Dam she saw an elderly women feeding the pigeons and wearing such ragged clothes she wanted to barf. She thought to herself that she was on of them before Neel came along and changed everything. She had feelings for Neel, but Neel had rejected her when he found out how poor she was.
It was a July morning, sunny and the windy. Vader and I were taking a stroll to the park, wondering how much it had changed since her brothers wedding. Somehow, Cornelia was thankful, but at the same time she wished for her brother to come back, and have her happy old life where they sold paintings for living. When they reached their mansion, Cornelia had the sudden thought of asking Vader about Carel' uncle. The one and only, Noclaes Bruyningh. As soon as she asked him, she regretted it because of the coldness in Vaders voice. She had never seen Vader hate someone so much, it was obvious they had a bad history.. Something she wasnt sure if she wanted to know or not. After finding out that Carel was Noclaes Bryuningh nephew he was banished from meeting Cornelia ever. As all girls, she didnt take the news properly, but as they say time heals everything. It had been more than a month that Cornelia met or even heard Carels name around the house. But not that evening. That was the evening that Neel and Carel had met, and then they stole Cornelia and she walked out of Vaders life. THE END. THEY THEN LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER. |
