1. The main character name is Ivan Vassilievich. They don't really give much information on him aside from that fact that he was a really important person and that society needed him.

2. This character is from German I think, this man really does not really talk about himself but more likely at that time when he fell in love with a young girl. He lives with his elder brother, who is basically anti social.

3. Well he tells really good stories, basically at first it was lust, then it changed to love then suddenly later the next day it changes to anger then hatred then lastly loneliness. The only other character that are quite important is the love of his life (Varenka B) and the father of the love of his life ( The colonel)
- Varenka B- at the age of fifteen she really beautiful. As when she turned 18 she was enchanting: tall, well-formed, graceful, majestic.
- Colonel - very handsome, improving and wel-preserved old man, rosy face with circled white mustaches joining with his equally white sideburns with their urls combed forward at the temples. His eyes and lips wore the same gentle, joyous smile as his daughter's. Had a handsome built: long, well-formed legs, strong shoulders and military chest bearing large, unornate decorations.

4. Firstly like I said earlier he falls in love with Varenka and then like after that the next morning when he goes to meet Varenka he saw the colonel beating up a man and doing some terrible thing and thats where the conflict is.

5. well not really, the man is himself but he just changes the way he feels about certain people.
